Kids Hope USA
We started our Kids Hope USA program at Allendale Public Elementary in February of 2001.
We spend one hour each week with our student helping them with academic and or social skills. Each week we give them hope and love. They know we care for them.
A special bond has been created between the mentor and the child they work with. They both look forward to seeing each other each week. One child hugs her mentor each week they meet, another asks the director how many more days before her mentor comes back. Another tells his mentor that he is his friend. Lots of smiles from the children. They are feeling very special. The mentors spend time with the child talking about their week, they work on academics, play creative academic games, read together and just play a fun game together each time they meet.
