Ø     The Council would like to thank the congregation for their prayers for those willing to accept the nomination for Elder and Deacon. The results of the Congregational Meeting held May 1 are as follows: new Deacons: Tom Buikema, Eric Eisen, Brad Smits, and Phil VanDyken. New Elders: Mike Batts, Jim Branderhorst, Rog Jeurink, and Joe VanderSchuur. Thank you to the retiring Elders and Deacons for the hours of service given to the Kingdom: Elders: Ron Borst, Randy Bosch, Arlyn SmIts, and Arlyn Wittingen. Deacons: Scott Albers, Matthew Camp, Brad Ensing, and Bryan Roon. We would also like to thank the congregation for the support of First Fruits and the resulting ministry spending plan. May God continue to bless each of you as you support the ministries of Second CRC.   

 

Ø     Betty Woods, one of our Faith Promise Missionaries, will be here next Sun. evening to tell about their new ministry in the Dominican Republic.

 

Ø     The SPARKS Middle School Ministry’s summer schedule is on the Information Desk. If you can help to provide snacks for one or more of their events, please sign up there. Thank you!!! 

 

Ø     The car wash booklets are in. Allendale Car Wash gave us a great deal! We now have the super wash book instead of the regular wash. It comes out to a $450 donation from the Car Wash. So a big thanks from the Cadets!  

 

Ø     A few families help to keep the church grounds and landscaping look nice, but more help is needed in the summer. They’ll meet at church around 7 pm on Thurs., May 12, if you’d like to stop in and see what’s involved. Questions? Call Bob & Rose Bosch at 895-6978.

Ø     Allendale Christian School’s Greenhouse Gift Card Sale is going on now through May 20. Local greenhouses are donation 30% back to ACS for each $25 gift card sold. Ø     For the past five years, Families Victorious, a Christ centered ministry that gives hope to those and their families who struggle with addiction, has been meeting weekly at Love INC in Allendale with great success. The group is looking for a few more leaders to help lead this Bible study. No experience is necessary. If interested, please call Rick or Bonnie at 895-9120 or the Love INC office at 895-5683.

 

Ø     Allendale Christian School’s Golf Classic will be Mon., May 16, at The Meadows at GVSU - Four man scramble with tee times 8:00 am or 1:15 pm. Lunch, prizes, raffle, hole-in-one contest for a “new car” (1 year lease). Cost: $75 per person. Ø     The next Feeding America Mobile Food Pantry will be Fri., May 13 at Allendale Community Church. The first 100 people with need will receive food. If you can help in person, prayer with volunteers will be at 3 pm and the truck arrives at 3:30 pm for unloading. Questions? Call Tim at 892-5215. Thank you for your support and prayers.

 

Ø     The immense storm system in the southern US in April killed 300 people, left thousands homeless, and is causing flooding along the Mississippi River. Ø     Looking for a great service opportunity? The Christian Reformed Conference Grounds is looking for two male volunteers (high school age or older) to help with Special Needs Week, June 18-24. You’d be matched up with a special needs camper for the week. Discover how God can use you during this fantastic week! Lodging and food provided. Ø     The movie “Reparando” will be shown at Celebration Cinema North in Grand Rapids on Thurs., May 12, at 7 pm. It is the film that CRC missionary in Guatemala, Joel Van Dyke, and others helped make about life and ministry in Guatemala. Tickets: $6. Spread the word, bring a friend, share the impact of this story of hope.
