Ø Beautiful Womanhood is a Christian marriage mentoring pro-gram designed to strengthen marriages and build community among women. Beautiful Womanhood dinners are held once a month for one year using the Titus 2 concept: older women teaching younger women. Do you want to have incredible influence in your marriage and home? Do you want to discover God’s heart for women? Join this Sept. for a new season of Beautiful Womanhood with women from our church. The first 12 women to call (newly married through those in their 30’s) will be accepted. Please call Cindy Borst (895-5220), Carol Scholten (895-7497), Jan Smits (895-6804), or Joyce Weaver (842-1602).

Ø GEMS is looking for someone interested in coordinating fundraisers. This is something that would not require your attendance to all GEMS meeting. In the past we have done two separate fundraisers: one to help our sister clubs in Africa and one to help cover our club’s expenses. If you are interested or have questions, please call Rachael Taylor at 895-9414.
Ø Church School: You are needed to help lead children in their walk with God. Please consider helping train a child after God's heart. The commitment is only 8 times. We currently need several teachers for our 2/3rd grade classes. If you would like to see the material, have questions, or just check it out, contact Kristina Moelker at 895-5946, kmoelker@gmail.com or place a note in N&K Moelker's mailbox.
Ø GEMS is seeking girls, 7th grade and older, who’d like to be a CIT (Counselor in Training) this 2010/11 GEMS season. Applications and reference sheets are at the Information Desk. Reference sheets need to be filled out by non-family members. Return all forms to Rachael Taylor by Aug. 30. If you served as a CIT last year and plan to return this year, you do not need to fill out the forms again. Questions? Please call Rachael Taylor 895-9414.
Ø All Church Volunteers: An exciting new season for our children is about to begin. If you have not attended a Safe Church Meeting for your training, you need to attend one of the two meetings Pastor Harold and Lorie DeYoung will be holding at 7:00 PM on Wed., Sept. 8, and Tues., Sept 21. Questions? Contact Lorie at 895-7649 or lady@altelco.net.
Ø Details about Seed Money and the Building Principle Reduction Match, two challenges taking place to reduce debt on our facilities, are available at the Information Desk. These projects will remain open until Oct. 1.
Ø Have you ever thought about adopting a child but couldn’t because of the cost? Kids Hope USA (KHUSA) is your next best option. You can’t adopt these children, but you can spend one hour a week with a child in our community that needs that same kind of love and commitment. KHUSA has 3 children that need new mentors this coming school year because their mentors are not able to return due to career changes. Two children are a one year commitment and the other is longer. Additional mentors could help other children who are at risk and at least one more substitute mentor would be very helpful. The commitment is 1–on-1 for one hour a week at Allendale Public School with a few other special events throughout the year. Mentor Training: Sept. 30 from 6:30-9:30 PM at Westend CRC in Grand Rapids. Please contact Aileen VanderSchuur, KHUSA Director, at 204-3540 or aileenv@altelco.net to learn more about this outreach ministry.
