Ø Congregational Meeting results: Elders chosen - Mike Brookhouse, Robert Feenstra, Jim Overweg, Steve Taylor; Deacons chosen - Ryan Bosch, Michael Motman, Josh VanderMolen. The 2010/2011 budget was also approved.
Ø Attention new Elders & Deacons: plan to attend the May 11 Council meeting which will begin at 7:00 pm. Installation will take place June 6.
Ø Council Retreat Notice: Tues., May 18. This is an open invitation for all retiring/current/and new Council members. Please meet at church at 6:00 pm. We will be traveling to the Weaver House located at Pine Bend Park near Lake Michigan and have a light dinner at 6:30 pm. Questions? Contact Mark Kuzee at 895-5034.
Ø The Coffee Break/Story Hour Ministry has just completed its 31st year here in Allendale. As we anticipate starting our 32nd year in the fall, we are in need of nursery helpers and children’s leaders. Ø Allendale Christian School's 2009-2010 Loyalty Drive is currently taking place. It’s a way for supporters to help reduce tuition for EVERY family at ACS. This year’s goal of $40,000 equates to tuition savings for each student of almost $200. Please prayfully consider a donation. For more information, call ACS at 895-5108.
Ø The UCHS Community Male Chorus is again rehearsing to sing in a May 24 concert. Rehearsals have begun, but new members are welcome and invited! Next rehearsal: Mon., May 10, at Unity, 6:30–8:30 pm. All males 7th grade and older are welcome.
Ø The next Feeding America MFP (Mobile Food Pantry) will be held at Allendale Community Church (2 blocks south of Family Fare) on Fri., May 1. New time, this month only! Registration will start at 4:15 pm; the first 100 people with need will receive food. Volunteers can come to pray at 4 pm; the truck will arrive at 4:30 pm for unloading. Questions? Ø Carol Kent, Christian author and speaker will share her family's compelling story about their son's murder conviction and life sentence in prison without parole on Thurs., May 13 at 7 pm at Calvary CRC in Holland. Tickets: $12; available at the door or by calling 848-5823. Hear Carol's inspirational message of hope in the face of painful life-changing experiences. Proceeds will benefit Families Victorious.
Ø Allendale Christian School is staffing a home in the Spring Parade of Homes. Volunteers may choose to sit with a friend, but no children under 8 years old please. Times help is needed: Fri., May 28 (1-9pm), Sat., May 29 (1-9pm), Mon., Memorial Day, May 31 (1-9pm), Fri., June 4 (6-9pm), Sat., June 5 (1-9pm), Wed., June 9 (1-9pm), Fri., June 11 (6-9pm), Sat., June 12 (1-9pm), 1-9pm times may be split into shifts to fit your availability. Ø May 15: Rubber Ducky Race & Pancake Breakfast. Breakfast: Grandville Chr. School gym 7:30– 9:45 am. Race: Wedgwood Park on Wilson Ave. at 10:00 am in Grandville with fantastic prizes! Sponsor ducks at Chicago Dr. Fitness, Elders Electric, or buy at the breakfast. RapidShred and Comprenew Trucks will be in the GCS parking lot for confidential destruction and recycling of paper and waste materials on 15th.
Ø Camp Geneva (www.campgeneva.org) will host an Open House on Sun., May 16, from 2-4 pm. There will be games for younger children and the pool will be open.
