Missionary Letter

Dear Friends and Family:

Greetings from Haiti.  We are writing this e-mail to ask for your prayers in the coming week.  Next week we are holding a Timothy Leadership Training (TLT) seminar at the Ministry Center.  The seminar will teach interested trainers to use a practical, results-based training method for lay church leaders.  The two topics for the week are pastoral care and stewardship of God’s resources.  Thirty-five church leaders are attending the seminar from many different churches—from Pentecostal to Reformed.

Please pray for the following in the coming week:

1. Good health for our family so that our attention will not be diverted from the training event.
2. Interest of the participants to discern God’s will for building up Haitian church leaders who have little or no theological and ministerial education.
3. A Spirit-filled openness to consider collaboration between churches and Christian organizations to meet the pressing needs of Gospel.
4. Reliable electricity so that logistic necessities can be successfully fulfilled during the training week.

Give thanks for the following:

1. Our children are enjoying the new school year at Quisqueya Christian School.
2. God’s healing of Sharon and Isaiah who suffered from extremely high fevers for five days last week (Isaiah had a fever of 105.7 degrees last week).  We still do not know the cause of the illness.
3. A successful visit from Calvary CRC of Holland, MI last week.  This team and a team of Haitian volunteers made a great deal of progress on the office building for the Ministry of Christian Development.

Thanks for your prayers and support!

Zach, Sharon, Hannah, Vivian, Isaiah, and Esther Segaar-King
