Ø     The Lord’s Supper will be celebrated this morning.

Ø     Kids Hope USA Prayer Walk Today! Meet here at church at  3:45 p.m. Arrive at school at 4:00 p.m. Some of the group will go over to Oakwood and the rest will go around the Springview-Evergreen Building. We will walk around the buildings stopping to pray at designated spots. Hope you can join us. Everyone is invited, not just people helping with Kids Hope USA. In case of bad weather, it will be next Sun., Sept.20.  Kids Hope USA mentoring starts Mon., Sept. 14. Please keep this ministry in your prayers.

Ø     Children’s Worship for children 3 yrs. old through Kindergarten resumes today with two classes; one for 3&4 yrs. olds and one for 5’s through Kindergarten. Teachers and helpers are still needed. Questions? Call Sue Brown at 723-2397 or Jerene Schierbeek at 608-5272.

Ø     KHUSA Mentors who are continuing with your child, please meet me near the Kids Hope USA office after church this morning to get your updated folder and any new details.

Ø     The first Faith Friends meeting will be held in the double room on Mon., Sept. 14, from 7-8 pm. We are looking forward to spending the hour with mentors and faith friends. -- Elizabeth VanderPloeg, Carol Scholten and Lorie DeYoung

Ø     Coffee Break, a community Bible study, will begin Tues., Sept. 15, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m.  Please join us here at Second CRC.  We will be studying the book of Mark.  Story Hour and nursery are provided for your children.  If you have any questions, please call Carol at 895-6321.

Ø     If you are 55 or older and are available on Tuesday afternoons, you’re invited to join the Prime Timers. The new season will start with a Potluck in the triple room on Sept. 15 at noon. Prime Timers is a group of people who enjoy good food and fellowship, and also Bible study. Regular meetings begin at 1:00 p.m. on alternate Tuesdays. This year, the Gospel of Matthew will be studied. After each Bible study, snacks and chit-chat are shared. If you have any questions, please call Ida Roon at 895-6246.

Ø     Do you work with or will you be working with the children of our church?  If the answer is yes AND you have not yet attended a Safe Church meeting, you will need to attend the meeting being held Tues., Sept. 22, from 7:30 -8:30 p.m. in the double room.  Questions or concerns? Ø     Two more Church School Teachers are needed: 2nd/3rd grade team teacher during church (8 times throughout year) and a 4th/5th grade team teacher after church (11 times throughout the year). Please contact Kristina Moelker at kmoelker@altelco.net or at 895-5946 if you can help with all of the times or just a few. 

Ø     The church family here would like to congratulate our couples that are getting married by giving them a grocery shower. There will be a box in the lobby a few weeks prior to the wedding. Bring a recipe and the ingredients or any nonperishable groceries. Anyone who is getting married and has a date set, please send the following information to lorraine@altelco.net or inform the office: first and last names of bride and groom, a picture if possible and wedding date. Thank you for participating in these joyous occasions!

Ø     Kids Hope USA needs 10 new mentors; men, women, 16 years old to senior citizens qualify. Commit one hour a week to help area children at risk reach their full potential. God loves these children and he’s waiting for us to love and accept them and their families. If we don’t, who will? Ø     Last week some men in Staff Sgt. Jesse Vander Schuur’s battalion (serving in Kuwait) rolled their Stryker off a bridge killing two of the men in it and seriously wounding a few others. Please keep the family members of those that died in your prayers as well as the recovery of the injured.

Ø     Dunamis is the Greek term for “power”. The Dunamis Project is a series of six retreats designed to equip clergy and laity in the gifts and power of the Holy Spirit. The teachings have been forged from the Scriptures and are applicable in a Reformed context. The workshop environment embraces prayer, trust, mutual accountability and a full expression of the spiritual gifts for the advancement of God’s Kingdom. Ø     Sept. 14 – Deadline to pre-register for the 5th annual “Steak & Clay” Fundraiser on Sept. 19 sponsored by Allendale Christian School. Test your skill at 9 a.m. on the Blendon Pines Sporting Clays course, and then enjoy great food, including New York Strips hot off the grill, corn on the cob, baked potatoes, salad and dessert.  Great prizes for everybody, including door prizes and awards for the high scoring team and individual.  Call Marcel Vander Laan at 895-7723 to sign up as a team or a sponsor.

Ø     Sept. 17 p.m. - Thirteen Leadership Training Seminars will be presented at the Fall Leadership Kick-Off at Calvary Christain Reformed Church in Holland on Sept. 17 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Elders, Deacons, Youth Leaders, Church School teachers, Prayer Team Members as well as people interested in “Healing Prayer”, “Evangelism”, and “Worship Planning” can learn more about their areas of interest and ministry and become more effective servants of Christ.  Brochures are available at the Information Desk. Ø     Sept. 18 - Double the FUN! Allendale Christian School’s Chicken BBQ & Family Fun Night. Dinner will be served from 5-7 p.m.; takeout starts at 4:45 p.m.  Cost: half chicken is $6.50 and quarter chicken is $5.50.  Dinners include two sides, rolls, dessert and beverage.  Kid’s hot dog meals also available.  Family Fun Night Games and Redemption Center will be open from 6-8 p.m.
