Bulletin Board

Ø     Tonight’s worship service will be a combined service at First Allendale CRC at 5:00 p.m. Note the time. Pastor Aaron Vriesman from North Blendon CRC will give the message. An offering will be received for Allendale Family Life Center.

Ø     Next Sunday, the Lord’s Supper will be celebrated.

Ø     Church School will begin next Sun., Sept 13!  1st -3rd graders will be dismissed from church at the same time as Children's Worship. They are to line up along the wall across from the bathrooms. Their teacher will lead them to their assigned rooms. Parents can pick up their child after 10:45 in the triple room. However, there are activities for them until 11:10 in the triple room. 4th/5th graders are to go to the triple room after church with their cookies. They will then be dismissed to their class at the appropriate time. 6th-8th graders just look at the signs on the classroom doors to know where your class will meet. 9th-12th graders will meet in the triple room after the 1st-5th graders have been dismissed at 11:10. Ø     Church School needs two more teachers. 2nd/3rd grader team teacher during church (8 times throughout year) and a 4th/5th grade team teacher after church (11 times throughout the year). Ø     Children’s Worship for children 3 yrs. old through Kindergarten will begin Sept. 13 with two classes; one for 3&4 yrs. olds and one for 5’s through Kindergarten. Teachers & helpers are still needed. Questions? Call Sue Brown at 723-2397 or Jerene Schierbeek at 608-5272. 

Ø     Church School Teachers, there will be a meeting at 7 p.m. on Wed., Sept 9 to go over routine, schedule and receive material. Ø     The Cadet Campout will be Sept. 11 & 12 and dads are invited. Meet at church at 5:30 p.m. Please call Dr. Zahl at 895-5035 by Sept. 8 if you plan to attend.  The Cadet ministry needs tools and supplies. If you have any you aren’t using but they’re still in good condition, please consider donating them. Counselors and helpers are also needed. Ø     Join the Kids Hope USA Prayer Walk next Sun., the 13th, at 4 p.m. to pray for Allendale Public School and the KHUSA ministry. Please sign up at the Information Desk or email Aileen Vander Schuur at aileen@altelco.net. KHUSA mentoring will start the week of Sept. 14.

Ø     If you are 55 or older and are available on Tuesday afternoons, you’re invited to join the Prime Timers. The new season will start with a Potluck in the triple room on Sept. 15 at noon. Prime Timers is a group of people who enjoy good food and fellowship, and also Bible study. Regular meetings begin at 1:00 p.m. on alternate Tuesdays. This year, the Gospel of Matthew will be studied. After each Bible study, snacks and chit-chat are shared. If you have any questions, please call Ida Roon at 895-6246.

Ø     Our church family here at Second CRC would like to congratulate our couples that are planning to get married. We’d like to do this in the form of a grocery shower. It will not involve any extra time on your part. Anyone that is getting married and has a date set please send the following information to lorraine@altelco.net or inform the office: first and last name of bride and groom, a picture (if possible) and the date of the wedding. There will be a box in the lobby a couple of weeks before the wedding. Bring in a recipe and the ingredients or any nonperishable groceries for the box. We want to offer something to couples that are getting married and to help them feel part of our church family. Thank you for participating in these joyous occasions!

Ø     Kids Hope USA needs 10 new mentors; men, women, 16 years old to senior citizens qualify. Help area children at risk by committing one hour each week to them. Help them reach their full potential. If you love children, then this is a ministry for you. God loves these children and he’s waiting for you to love and accept them and their families. They eagerly await your time and love. If we don’t step forward, who will? Their faces have been sad for too long. Ø     Thirteen Leadership Training Seminars will be presented at the Fall Leadership Kick-Off at Calvary Chr Ref Church in Holland on Sept. 17 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Elders, Deacons, Youth Leaders, Church School teachers, Prayer Team Members as well as people interested in “Healing Prayer”, “Evangelism”, and “Worship Planning” can learn more about their areas of interest and ministry and become more effective servants of Christ.  Brochures are available at the Information Desk. Ø     Dunamis is the Greek term for “power”. The Dunamis Project is a series of six retreats designed to equip clergy and laity in the gifts and power of the Holy Spirit. The teachings have been forged from the Scriptures and are applicable in a Reformed context. The workshop environment embraces prayer, trust, mutual accountability and a full expression of the spiritual gifts for the advancement of God’s Kingdom. Ø     World Missions: With pencils sharpened and in hand, students and teachers overseas have begun another school year. Like teachers in Christian school classrooms here, CRWM missionary teachers have a unique opportunity to present the Gospel in their classrooms. As you pray for education programs here, pray for missionary teachers working around the world. 

Ø     CRWRC: Thousands of people affected by Hurricane Ike last year are still in need of CRWRC's help. CRWRC Disaster Response Services is at work in Louisiana and Texas, and in other locations affected by disaster and need to raise approximately $350,000 to complete projects in these areas. Ø     Prayer Request from Back to God Ministries International: More than 300 million children live in China, most of whom have never heard of Jesus. Praise God that our Chinese website is reaching some of these children. A listener from Anhui province wrote: “My child and I listen to Kids World. Before [I found your program] I did not know there are children’s Gospel programs. Thank you so much, for the children need the Gospel and the truth too.”

Ø     Sept. 19 - The 5th annual “Steak & Clay” Fundraiser promises to be an enjoyable day filled with fun and fellowship.  Enjoy camaraderie with other sportsmen while supporting a great cause – Christian education at Allendale Christian School!  Test your skill at 9 a.m. on the Blendon Pines Sporting Clays course, and then enjoy great food, including New York Strips hot off the grill, corn on the cob, baked potatoes, salad and dessert.  Great prizes for everybody, including door prizes and awards for the high scoring team and individual.  Call Marcel Vander Laan at 895-7723 by Sept. 14 to pre-register your team of five or if you would like to sign up as a sponsor.
