Ø This morning following the worship service there will be a Congregational Meeting to approve Council’s request for the position of Worship Leader/Coordinator. Just a reminder there is no Church School for grades 6-12 today. K-5 will be meeting as usual and are asked to go to the triple room after getting their punch and cookie today. Nursery and Just Between will continue to be offered through the end of the Congregational Meeting.
Ø Tonight we welcome Pastor Jon Vugteveen, Tim Kauffman, and the Worship Team from The River Church in Allegan to lead us.
Ø All newsletter items are due today. Put a hard copy in the newsletter mailbox and email a copy to Gailepunt@aol.com if possible. Next issue out Feb. 8 with quarterly updates in 2009.
Ø Extra copies of the picture church directory are available from the Information Desk lower cabinet if needed by anyone.
Ø Now is a great time to become a Kids Hope USA Mentor! The school year is half over, yet three or more Mentors are still needed. YOU can make a difference! Please contact Aileen VanderSchuur, Kids Hope USA Director, in person or call 204-3540. Training is provided. Reminder: There is a Kids Hope USA Mentors & Prayer Partners potluck in the triple room right after tonight’s service. Come, have fun sharing stories, getting new ideas and games to do during your mentoring time.
Ø Volunteers are needed to bring supper on Youth Group meeting nights. There is a sign-up sheet on the Info. Desk. Thanks!
Ø GEMS Africa Project: This year the GEMS are collecting and earning change to help our sister GEMS club in Zambia, Africa purchase needed supplies. Basic things are needed. If you have change to donate, please pick up at the Information Desk a container decorated by our GEMS to collect coins. All change needs to be turned in to GEMS by Feb. 18. If you have questions or ideas for ways the girls could earn change, call Rachael Taylor at 895-9414. Thank you for your support.
Ø GEMS Get Connected Camp will be at Deer Lake Ministries Camp, South River, Ontario, Canada this summer. The camp is for 6th, 7th and 8th grade girls and will be held August 3-8. Information went home with the 6th graders. If you are interested or have any questions, call Rachael Taylor at 895-9414.
Ø The GEMS will be going to a Griffins game on Sat., Jan 31. Meet at church at 5:45 p.m. to carpool. If you cannot make it to church but want to meet at the game, please call Michelle Kolean at 690-5907. The game will start at 7 p.m.
Ø Save March 27 for the annual First and Second CRC’s Pinewood Derby & Dinner. Everyone is invited. Registration forms are available in the church lobby. Get your cars now!
Ø Feb. 7 is the date of the Cadet Snow Derby. Plan to arrive at church at 7 a.m. and be back to church about 2 p.m. Bring permission slips to next Cadet meeting if you plan to participate.
Ø Cadet Fundraiser: Arena Racing, Feb. 28, at the DeltaPlex. Tickets: $9.50 per person; half goes to our Cadets. Deadline to order tickets: Feb. 15. Order forms are at the Information Desk.
Ø Looking ahead: A Prayer Group meets on the Wednesday morning of Connections nights at 8:45 – 10:15 a.m. in Dr. Zahl’s offce, 11219 Brown St. Please come, all are welcome.
Ø Searching for a new way to serve others? Here's a great opportunity! Come to the church nursery and care for younger siblings of the Allendale Christian School Preschoolers while they attend field trips with their parents. Ø Describing themselves as a nomadic community of psalmists, The Psalters present a powerful combination of punk and folk rock rooted in biblical tradition and played out in dramatic DIY style. year olds) in room 122 or “Children’s Worship” (for 3-5 year olds) which
meets in rooms 127 & 129.
