Bulletin for November 16, 2008

Ø    A big Thank You to all who worked on the Pumpkin Walk and Halloween Open House in this year! Over 1300 people came to look at the pumpkins displayed in the woods behind our church and to attend the Halloween Open House. It was wonderful observing parents and children together carving pumpkins. A special thanks to Rachael Veldman and Adam Todd for being in charge of these events again this year. It’s refreshing to see our church provide something safe and enjoyable for our community during Halloween. Many positive comments were received from the community for putting on these events. –- The Growth Team

Ø    The 6th & 7th grade Church School class will not meet today, but will meet next Sunday.

Ø    Attention Youth Group: Please meet at church at 5:15 p.m. today to go to the Youth Service.

Ø    Looking for an excuse to upgrade your kitchen terrycloth towels? Our kitchen could use a few dozen new or used (but still usable), terrycloth towels. If you have any, just put them in a small bag and place them on the kitchen counter between the stoves and the refrigerator. Thanks so much! – Rose Bosch

Ø    The GEMS are collecting pop cans again! Please place your empty cans in the big green trash can in the triple room. The girls are learning about recycling this year and the money collected from the can refunds will go towards buying supplies for the GEMS ministry.

Ø    GEMS needs a few women or junior/high school girls to help during craft and class times. You don’t need to prepare anything ahead of time, we simply need extra hands. Interested? Please call Rachael Taylor at 895-9414 or Lonna Driesenga at 892-4808.

Ø    Attention Deacons, there will be a meeting this week Thurs., the 20th, at 7 p.m. in the double room across from the nursery.

Ø    Cookies are needed once again for the students at GVSU after their worship service on Nov. 23. Please call Mary Espinoza at 895-5251 if you would be willing to help out by baking some. Thank you.

Ø    As the holidays draw closer, thoughts turn to holiday baking. Let the ladies from Coffee Break bake for you. Choices: mini-muffins, raisin brown bread, cookies, Chex mix, peanut brittle and clusters. These baked goods make great gifts. Please return order forms with payment to the bag on the Information Desk. Questions? Call Jean at 895-4151 or Lisa at 892-9477.

Ø    Thanksgiving Day: Come worship at 9:30 a.m. Offerings received:  Benevolence Fund and items for nonperishable grocery items for Mel Trotter Ministries in Grand Rapids.

Ø    Our Kids Hope USA ministry would like to give gift boxes to the KHUSA families at the Christmas Dinner here on Dec. 4 and you can help. Please take an ornament off the Christmas tree in the lobby, purchase the item, bring it to church and put it in the gift box by the tree no later then Nov. 30.  Call Aileen VanderSchuur at 204-3540 if you have questions about KHUSA and/or this project. Thank you!

Ø   Please note: Beginning Dec. 7, evening worship services will begin at 5:30 p.m. on a trial basis with review in the spring.
