Ø    Tonight’s worship service will be lead by members of the Sikma family. Welcome!

Ø    This week Tuesday, Nov. 4, our church building will be the polling place in our township for the National Election. A room will be open for prayer on this important day; room #104 (Media Center) in the a.m. and room #124 in the p.m. There is a sign up sheet on the Information Desk if you’d be willing to commit to come and pray. Prayer shifts are set up for ½ hour each. Area churches have also been invited to participate. Questions? Call Lonna Driesenga at 892-4808. 

Ø    One or two people are needed to lead the Fellowship Committee. To learn what is involved, please contact John & Ali Knoppers at 895-7293 or Dan Ondersma at 662-5031. 

Ø    The next Safe Church Meeting will be Mon., Nov. 10, at 7 p.m. If you have not yet attended and serve in ministry, plan to attend.

Ø    The Just Between ministry is available during morning worship services for 2½ - 3 yrs olds. Adults and young people (10 yrs. +) are needed to help these children learn about God in ways they learn best and to enjoy time with them. Materials are available. Ø     Because the church carpeting will be cleaned starting Nov. 6 with the office area, the bulletin announcement deadline will be Tues. at 3 p.m. this week.  

Kids Hope USA would like to give gift boxes to our KHUSA families at the KHUSA Christmas Dinner on Thurs., Dec. 4. Your help is needed to make this happen. Please take an ornament off the Christmas tree in the lobby, purchase the item, bring it to church and put it in the gift box by the tree no later then Nov. 30. Thank You for your generosity! Times are hard for many families now. Call Aileen VanderSchuur at 204-3540 if you have questions about KHUSA and/or this project.

Ø    Every day, Christians around the world are being persecuted for their faith. On Nov. 9, please join the worldwide Church in prayer for those being persecuted, their oppressors, the nations they live in, and the people who ignore the persecution. 

Pray for Miki U., a listener from Miyagi, Japan. Although she attended a Christian college, she has not yet committed her life to the Lord. Miki wrote, “I would like to read the Bible again.” Pray that our Back to God Ministries International Japanese ministry will help lead her to a saving knowledge of Christ.
 

 

 

Ø   It’s not too late to come and be a part of the Allendale Community Christmas Musical! All ages are welcome! Join the fun!!! Performances will be Sat., Dec. 6 (outdoors by Allendale Family Farm & Home store) and on Sun., Dec. 7 in the Allendale High School Fine Arts Center and will include refreshments and opportunities to connect with the community. Choir rehearsals are held here at Second CRC at 4 p.m. each Sunday in the triple room. There’s a  CD and choral music available for each choir member to take home. There are just four pieces of music to learn. What a great way to use a musical presentation to share the Good News of the coming of our Savior Jesus Christ!!! Questions? Ø    Christmas is coming so why not start your shopping now!  The students at Allendale Christian School are holding their “Holiday Wishes” fundraiser now through Nov. 3.  Items available include: holiday gift wrap, gifts, cookies, nuts, chocolate, etc.  Wreaths from KP Tree & Nursery can also be ordered. Please place all orders with an ACS student or contact Diana Overweg (895-6014) or Denise Gulker (892-4868).  To place a wreath order, call Rachelle Brown (895-5030).  Pickup date: December 2 at school.  Proceeds benefit technology at ACS. Ø    Sunset Association, 725 Baldwin St., Jenison, will be hosting their annual Open House & Holiday Bazaar on Fri., Nov. 7, from 9 am – 3 pm. Over 35 crafters will be there along with tables filled with delicious, homemade baked good! The Café will be open for lunch. Questions? Call 457-2770.

Steve Monsma of Calvin College’s Henry Institute for the Study of Christianity and Politics describes the possibilities today at 1 and now 6:30 p.m. on local PBS (WGVU-TV 35). 

Noontime Series Nov. 6 - A Kenya Rescue: the story of fear, faith, and gratitude. Three West Michigan young women-Brittanie Vander Mey, her sister Aubrey, and friend Jamie Cook - were working at an orphanage in Kenya when tribal riots and killings in towns nearby threatened their safety. They tell how they were caught in the deadly violence that erupted in December 2006, and about their rescue, and ongoing ministry. (In the Calvin College Chapel Undercroft)

Ø    Can you host a Worship Symposium international guest?  We are expecting 150 international guests to attend the Worship Symposium at Calvin College from Jan. 29-31. We would like to find 150 families willing to host them at their home for only Saturday night (January 31), bring them to church on Sunday (February 1), and then drop them off at the airport later on Sunday. North Blendon CRC will host its first Holiday Craft Show on Sat., Dec. 6, from 9 am to 2 pm and is looking for crafters, bakers, and home demonstrators. For booth rental ($25) or more information, call Alicia Schipper at 797-9878. All proceeds will go to benefit Kyle Hassevoort as well as Horse Play. Kyle is a teen from NBCRC who has spina bifida and is in a wheelchair.  NBCRC is raising funds to add a handicap accessible bedroom and bathroom on to Kyle’s home. Horse Play is a horse therapy program run by Curt & Tami Klinger through Barnabas Ministries and Bethany Christian Services. They feed and care for the horses used in this program through donations only.  Thank you for your support!

Ø    Nursery for infants and toddlers is available during both services. Partway into each morning service young children are invited to “Just Between” (for 2 ½ - 3 year olds) in room 122 or “Children’s Worship” (for 3-5 year olds) which meets in rooms 127 & 129.   

Ø    Sermons: Outlines, if used, are available on the carts in the back of the auditorium. Bibles are there also. Previous week’s sermons can be obtained at the Information Desk in CD format or can be accessed at the church website: www.2ndcrc-allendale.org Click Here to go to the Sermon page.

Ø    For those with special needs: The entire facility is barrier free. Large print bulletins are available at the Information Desk. The auditorium is equipped with a hearing loop. If you have a hearing aid, please set it to “T” for better hearing during the service. The best reception is at the center of the auditorium.
