Bulletin for September 28, 2008

Ø   MARK YOUR CALENDARS...it's BAG LADIES!!  We've started up again for the year and plan to have our first meeting on October 28, 7pm-??? in the triple room.  If you are an established member, get your bag packed, and if you are wanting to join...please join us!!  We'd love to have you!  Bag Ladies is a small group for women with crafting interests...but we'd like to expand that to any woman who'd like to get out for an evening and fellowship with other women while getting some 'stuff' done.  Bring your scrapbooking, quilting, cross stitching, Christmas cards, coupons to sort, recipe book to type...ANYTHING that can be put in a bag!  Email Erin Ensing at erinensing@hotmail.com if you plan to attend...even if just for a little while.  Hope to see you there!!

Ø   All bulletin announcements need to be to the office by Tuesday of this week. Thank you.

Ø    Women’s Prayer – If you are interested in gathering once a month to pray for our congregation, we will be meeting the first Monday of the month starting October 6 at 9:30 a.m. in the sanctuary. If you have any questions please call Rachael Taylor at 895-9414.

Ø    Children’s Worship is still in need of one or more teachers, especially for the Kindergarten age. This is a commitment of 2 Sundays every 6 weeks or more. Please prayerfully consider this; we would love to have you join our “family”. Any question, call Sue Brown at 892-4555 or Jerene Schierbeek at 608-5272.

Ø    The Praise Team is still looking for new members; of special need are additional guitar players and male vocalists. For more information, please contact Kim Roon (895-6536).

Ø    GEMS: Gems are selling subs, cookie dough and flowering bulbs (tulips, daffodils, etc.). There are order sheets at the information desk or call Michelle Kolean at 690-5907. Orders are due Oct 8.

Ø    GEMS recycling project: As part of some badge work and the call for GEMS worldwide to better care for God’s Creation, the GEMS will be providing a recycling service for paper products here in the church building. Some of the areas chosen for our recycle boxes will be under the family mailboxes and in the office area (copy room). If you notice a box and can use it, please do – this is only for paper products such as junk mail, magazines, catalogs and phonebooks (please no cardboard or plastics). We will be bringing the paper to the Paper Gator located at Allendale Christian School. We are also bringing back the pop can recycle canister to fund GEMS events and needs. The bin will be located around or in the triple room. We graciously accept any donations you would like to give. Thank you!!

Ø    GEMS needs: GEMS is in need of 40 empty cereal boxes (just the cardboard part) for a craft. We will collect them around the mailbox area – we will accept them until Oct. 15.

Community Potluck – at GVSU is scheduled for Sunday Oct. 19. We are asking 7 families from our church to host tables and share their food with the students. We can be Christ’s love with skin on it as we meet the student’s craving for home cooked food and we promise you a rewarding experience at the same time. Call the Roons at 895-6246 or the Espinozas at 895-5251.
