Ø    The congregation is notified that a meeting of members will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at 7:30 p.m., to consider the Restatement of the Articles of Incorporation of our church. Copies of the proposed Restatement will be available from the Information Desk prior to the meeting. The purpose of the Restatement is to consolidate in one document all the Articles of Incorporation of our church, to adopt the most recent provisions limiting the liability exposure of council members and volunteers and to adopt articles regarding distribution of assets on disbanding which have been recommended by Synod. Other items for the Congregational Meeting: voting on the 2008-2009 Budget and selection of new Council members. Following are the nominees for the office of Elder and Deacon: Elder – Doug Bergakker, Ron Borst, Randy Bosch, Gary Kleinjans, John Knoppers, Arlyn Smits, Bill Stehouwer, Arlyn Wittingen; Deacon – Scott Albers, Josh Bergakker, Matthew Camp, Brad Ensing, John Konyndyk, Brian Roon, Scott Smith, Gary Zeinstra. The terms of four Elders and four Deacons will need to be filled. Absentee ballots are available at the Information Desk.

Ø    Pop Cans! Pop Cans! Pop Cans! Save your pop cans for GEMS’ Pop Can Fund Drive! Funds will go towards expenses for leaders who will be attending the GEMS Leadership Conference in North Carolina this summer. Please put your pop cans in the trash bin in the lobby at church or if you would like to have them picked up from your house, call Rachael Taylor at 895-9414. The leaders who will be attending the conference are Lonna Driesenga, Sara Ambrose, Rachael Taylor, and Deb Zeinstra. Thank You

Ø    This evening, the Men of Grace choral group will share the gift of song during the evening service. Invite others to worship.

Ø    There’s been a request to include people’s interests and hobbies in the Second CRC Yellow Pages Directory for congregational members. Forms are available on the table in the lobby. If you have questions about this project, contact Steve or Sara Ambrose (saraambrose@charter.net,  442eman@charter.net or 847-2984).

Ø    We still need people to lead stations at Vacation Bible School this year from July 28 –Aug. 1. We MUST have someone to lead Crafts, Games, Drama and Snacks!  We have curriculum that spells each of these out in great detail down to the supplies needed and special hints.  Without these individuals and teams, VBS cannot happen.  We will have an initial meeting in the next couple of weeks!   Please contact Sarah Gemmen sgemmen@charter.net  or call 616-892-6009 if you are willing to help.

Ø    Jump right in and serve! Here are some opportunities: Sunday School Superintendent (1 person or team of 2), Missions Committee (2 people), Worship Planning Team (2-3 people), Media Center Director (1 person). Ø    Church families who are in need of Christian Education tuition assistance for the 2008/09 school year can apply by getting in touch with Jim Krikke at 895-5195.

Ø    The Allendale Fire Department will be hosting its Second Annual Spaghetti Supper on Friday, May 16 at the Allendale Christian School gym. All you can eat menu of Spaghetti Dinner, bread, coleslaw, applesauce, and drink. Free blood pressure checks, displays, fire truck tours. Serving time 5:30 - 7:00 pm. Cost by donation for the purchase of new equipment.

Music & Books, Tastefully Simple, Watkins and more! Come for an fun evening with special sales, cash and carry items, door prizes, refreshments, hand waxes and a flower sale. Admission is free and everyone is welcome.  Proceeds will benefit Bauer CRC's Building Debt Reduction Campaign. Call the church office at 669-1061 for details.

Ø    CRWRC is assisting Cyclone Nargis survivors in Burma/Myanmar with life-sustaining emergency items such as shelter, water, kitchen kits, medical, and food supplies. Skyrocketing grain prices combined with the cyclone’s devastation have also thrust millions of Burmese people into hunger. CRWRC will respond with emergency food distribution. Ø    Plan for spring planting by purchasing Greenhouse Gift Cards, $25 each, from Allendale Christian School to any of the following: Motman’s (new to the list), Countryside, Feenstra Greenhouse, Garden Crossings, Kraker Greenhouse, or W.W. Greenhouses.  Countryside is donating 50% and the others are donating 20% back to the school for each card sold.  Purchase cards in the school office or order by May 14 using an order form and pick them up May 20. Enjoy refreshments, children’s games and prizes at Lakeshore Pregnancy Center’s 14th annual LifeWalk on Sat., June 14. This event helps the ministry provide free pregnancy tests, baby items, peer counseling, abstinence education and life skills classes. For details, call Kari Wiersema at 895-1893.

Ø    Nursery for infants and toddlers is available during both services. Partway into each morning service young children are invited to “Just Between” (for 2 ½ - 3 year olds) in room 122 or “Children’s Worship” (for 3-5 year olds) which meets in rooms 127 & 129.   

Ø    Sermons: Outlines, if used, are available on the carts in the back of the auditorium. Bibles are there also. Previous week’s sermons can be obtained at the Information Desk in CD format or can be accessed at the church website: www.2ndcrc-allendale.org Click Here to go to the Sermon page.

Ø    For those with special needs: The entire facility is barrier free. Large print bulletins are available at the Information Desk. The auditorium is equipped with a hearing loop. If you have a hearing aid, please set it to “T” for better hearing during the service. The best reception is at the center of the auditorium.
