Bulletin for April 27, 2008

We are very glad you decided to come and worship God here today. Welcome! 
We pray that you receive from God what you need today and that you come back again. 
Everyone is invited to stay for refreshments and conversation in the lobby after the morning service.  

Ø    Thank you for your interest in a Second CRC Yellow Pages Directory for the congregational members so we’ll have a Christian, trustworthy person to go to when we need help or repairs and also we will be able to support one another in the jobs, gifts and abilities God has given us. There has been a request to expand the booklet to include people’s interests and hobbies as well. Forms have been placed in the mailboxes for you to complete. What a great way to get to know each other! Please participate. Ø    Jump right in and serve! Here are some opportunities: Sunday School Superintendent (1 person or team of 2), Missions Committee (2 people), Worship Planning Team (2-3 people), Media Center Director (1 person). Ø    Would you like to order a hanging basket for display in the May 11 Mothers’ Day Garden? Order forms are available at the Information Desk; orders due May 4.

Ø    It’s not too late to participate in the Worship Planning Survey. Forms were recently placed in each mailbox and extras are available from the counter in the church office. Your input is needed. 

Ø    Attention Junior and Senior Highers: Do you find yourself drowsier than usual on Sunday mornings? Are you looking for a way to make the morning message more applicable to your life? Does your bulletin look like a doodle masterpiece? Starting in May, a new sermon outline will be available to you. It's the same outline, but with some added info and fun just for teenagers. Find it on the Information Desk.

The congregation is notified that a meeting of members will be held Tues. May 13, 2008, at 7:30 p.m., to consider the Restatement of the Articles of Incorporation of our church. Copies of the proposed Restatement will be available at the Information Desk prior to the meeting. The purpose of the Restatement is to consolidate in one document all the Articles of Incorporation of our church, to adopt the most recent provisions limiting the liability exposure of council members and volunteers and to adopt articles regarding distribution of assets on disbanding which have been recommended by Synod. Other items for the Congregations Meeting are voting on the 2008-2009 Budget and selection of new Council members.

Pray for Haiti, its missionaries, aid organizations and the government as they deal with issues of inflation and instability.  Praise God for our abundant provisions.
 

 

 

Ø    Plan for spring planting by purchasing Greenhouse Gift Cards, $25 each, from Allendale Christian School to any of the following: Motman’s (please note this is new to the list), Countryside, Feenstra Greenhouse, Garden Crossings, Kraker Greenhouse, or W.W. Greenhouses.  Countryside is donating 50% and the others are donating 20% back to the school for each card sold.  Purchase cards in the school office or order by May 14 using an order form and pick them up May 20. Ø    You are invited to Allendale Christian School’s Annual Society meeting on May 5, at 7:30 p.m.

Ø    Unity’s Education Foundation Scrap Metal Drive will be May 2 (noon to 8 p.m.) and May 3 (8 a.m. to 3 p.m.) at the Hudsonville Dept. of Public Works, corner of Balsam Ave. & Oak St. Questions? Call Alden Jelsema at 813-5972. To volunteer to help, call the UCHS Development Office at 662-4011.

Allendale Christian School will have a Paper Drive on May 9 & 10 at the school.
 

For Your Information:

Ø    Nursery for infants and toddlers is available during both services. Partway into each morning service young children are invited to “Just Between” (for 2 ½ - 3 year olds) in room 122 or “Children’s Worship” (for 3-5 year olds) which meets in rooms 127 & 129.   

Ø    Sermons: Outlines, if used, are available on the carts in the back of the auditorium. Bibles are there also. Previous week’s sermons can be obtained at the Information Desk in CD format or can be accessed at the church website: www.2ndcrc-allendale.org.   Click Here to go to the Sermon page.

Ø    For those with special needs: The entire facility is barrier free. Large print bulletins are available at the Information Desk. The auditorium is equipped with a hearing loop. If you have a hearing aid, please set it to “T” for better hearing during the service. The best reception is at the center of the auditorium.
